New decks, repairs and extensions built for the Illawarra's sun, salt air and southerlies — not just whatever's cheapest. Fast, local, fair pricing.
Designed and built from the ground up — footings, subframe, decking boards and stairs, engineered for your site, whether that's a flat backyard or a sloped block near the escarpment.
Loose boards, rot, tired old oil finish, structural issues — we assess what's actually wrong before quoting, rather than assuming the whole thing needs replacing.
Adding on to an existing deck — matched to what's already there so it doesn't look like two different projects stitched together.
We assess the site — ground level, access, existing structure — and talk through timber vs. composite for your situation.
We check whether your deck needs council approval before we start and design the footings and subframe to suit the site.
Footings, subframe, decking boards, stairs and balustrade — built in that order, properly engineered rather than eyeballed.
Oiling for hardwood decks, final checks, site cleaned up before we call it done.
There's no honest single number — here's what actually moves the price.
Material — treated pine is the budget option, Merbau sits mid-range, Spotted Gum and composite sit at the premium end
Size — a simple rectangle costs less per square metre than something with multiple levels or angles
Height and access — a raised deck on a sloped block costs more than a low deck on flat ground
New build vs. repair vs. extension — very different scopes, very different costs
Stainless fixings, coastal-appropriate timber selection, and a finish that's meant to handle salt air.
Clear cost before we start, no surprises once the footings go in.

Often not, but it depends on size and height. A deck qualifies as Exempt Development (no approval needed) if it's no more than 25m² in floor area, no more than 1m above natural ground level, at least 900mm from side and rear boundaries, not heritage-listed, and behind the building line. Larger decks typically fall under Complying Development, a fast-track approval via a private certifier (10–20 business days). We'll flag which pathway applies during your quote.
Merbau and Spotted Gum are the two most commonly used, and both handle the coastal climate well. If you want zero ongoing maintenance, composite decking is worth considering, particularly around pools.
Depends on size and complexity, but a straightforward new deck typically takes from a few days up to a couple of weeks.
Yes — annual oiling keeps the colour and protects the timber. Composite decking needs none of this.
Yes — we assess what's actually damaged before quoting. Loose or rotted boards, failing fixings, or a tired finish are often a repair job, not a full rebuild.
It depends on how much you value zero maintenance. Composite costs more upfront but needs no oiling, sanding or staining over its life.
